Rake by Elevated Train Tracks

There’s a great website out there, dpchallenge.com For newbies and experienced digital photo buffs alike, this site offers weekly challenges on a wide variety of themes, some for paying members and some for anyone. There’s also a lively community. Paying members can even sell prints via the site.

I submitted a photo for the rust competition. I already knew about the location of this rake (underneath the brown line between Damen and Western), so I went down there last night to photograph it while the sun was setting. Right now the photo is getting a 4.5 rating. Which is just below average. (top voters get around a 7, the last placers get like a 3). I suppose I should not have included so much of the white background, and more of the rake.

The next competition is “Opposites: Black and White. Left and Right. Take a photo of two opposite things.” I wonder what I should shoot. Any ideas?

Those don’t seem so opposite to me. A loaf of bread and a Rock maybe?Opposites in the food category…?hmm..that’s a toughy. Maybe a bowl of soup and a bowl of ice cream?
