What would replace grass lawns?

The year is 2050. Grass lawns have been outlawed due to some scientific reason. What would replace them? Stones? Cement? Steel? Astroturf?

Plastic sheeting. Then we won’t have to worry about watering the lawn to keep it alive.. we’ll water the lawn to have an awesome slip-n-slide party!

copper plates. By 2050 the polar caps will have melted resulting in massive flooding which leads to a 20 degree rise in temperature. The copper plates will allow everyone to cook food on their lawns.

Why copper? I’d go with iron. Nice and black, absorbing all the heat it can.

I would opt for “FieldTurf,” a realistic-looking artificial grass-like surface. It’s on Wikipedia. Look it up.

Rubber surfacing like they have on lots of playgrounds these days. Durable. Waterproof. Weather-resistant. Bouncy for running. Won’t hurt if you fall on it. Won’t hurt your doggies’ feet. Available in panels, so if one spot cracks you just replace that part, not the whole thing. Can be painted on. Made from recycled tires. Easy to keep clean. Very little maintenance. Maybe could be made available with a customizable level of bounciness!
