My twin brother is going to start spelling the word “gray” as “grey.” I disagree. I’m just not a fan of the spelling of “grey.” Grey eliminates the simplicity of gray. Grey makes gray complicated and stuffy.
Gray is simple. Gray is pure. Gray is honest. Long live gray!

Sorry buddy. I’ve been a fan of grey for quite a long time.
I think gray makes grey complicated and stuffy. Grey is simple. Grey is pure. Grey is honest. Long live grey!
Sparx, wait–what? Just look at the word grey. It looks like it should be pronounced gree. I mean, seriously. Gree? Gree is some sort of cheese that people eat with their pinkies up in the air.
That’s like saying “Tom” should be pronounced “Tome”. I do not think Tom would appreciate you making fun of his name like that!
I call him Tome all the time. He loves it. Isn’t that right, Tome?
That’s right, spudheart
hehe, that’s funny Tummy.
a few comments from facebook: MiPa: I concur. Grey ≠ Gray. Also, gray is the best color EVER!! Long live gray!! DaTh: I actually prefer “grey”. I think it’s more phonetically appropriate, aesthetically superior and, let’s be honest, I like British spellings. CaMi: grey ftw 🙂
I think it was Mark Twain who said he couldn’t suffer a man that could only spell a word one way. Fortunately Twain doesn’t know me.
Here is my response to DaTh from facebook: Good point DaTh, while grey may be aesthetically superior, it denies the original qualities of gray. Gray is a beautiful subdued color. Gray has the ability to take on the qualities of colors surrounding it. To assign gray a hero status elevates it beyond it’s true inherent qualities. Gray’s strength is in its humbleness.
