Steaming orange juice to battle a sore throat

Has anyone tried using steaming orange juice to battle a sore throat? J.J. left a comment on a previous spudart.org post suggesting this remedy. I am highly suspicious that boiling orange juice will result in some sort of Godzilla monster (colored orange) that will take over my apartment.

LOL near your Godzilla comment. I don’t really see the benefit of drinking “hot acid”. I wonder if the heat would kill the vitamin C, the real benefit in orange juice.

Well, don’t knock it ’til ya try it, guys. Don’t boil it, just nuke it in the microwave for a bit. But be forewarned: it smells kinda funky…and it tastes even worse. But I’m still alive & kickin’….with only a wee hint of Godzilla breath.

It smells funny and tastes even worse … plus it gives you Godzilla breath … nevermind that nuking the OJ potentially kills the Vitamin C (though the jury is still out on that one) What’s the benefit again, J.J.? I’ll take my OJ nice and cold. While you’re at it, throw in a shot of vodka :o) OK, I’m sorry … I didn’t mean to use “OJ” and “jury” here.

WebMD has confirmed it: Light and heat both kill Vitamins, including C. Don’t nuke your OJ
