It seems everyone loves Fridays and hates Mondays. Certainly the mental association with Fridays and Mondays is tied in with their relation with the weekend. A study revealed that the stronger identities of Monday and Friday make Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday more forgettable.
What would happen if every month the weekend moved around? Would this shuffling around make Mondays seem less bad? Would we come to appreciate weekends even more?
In this week’s webcomic, Etym and the Worm play around with making the first day of the month be th first day of the week.
At the end of the webcomic, a printable shifted calendar is promised. Download a pdf version of the shifted serial time 2016 calendar.
In retrospect, it would have been shorter if I worded the title frame as “What if the weeks started on the first of every month?” I rewrote that line as I was posting this to social media.
I wish there was a subreddit category for time. For discussing all things related to time. There’s a horology subreddit, but it’s really more for watches. Thankfully there is a subreddit for comics, and they encourage artists to post their own work.
