Commenting works again on spudart.org. Some users who tried leaving a comment on a spudart.org blog post might have gotten an error saying, “Nonce is invalid.”
I found the error, and have corrected it, so people can leave comments again.
If you are curious what caused the error, it has to do with setting with the front-end caching. My web host, Siteground offers a caching plugin. There’s one single setting that breaks the ability to lave a comment
Turning this setting ON doesn’t let you make a comment
Remove Query Strings from Static Resources
Removes version query strings from your static resources improving the caching of those resources.
Turning this setting OFF allows you make a comment. Here’s a screenshot.

I really don’t know what this does. Here’s what Gemini says:
Why this happens
Modern plugins like wpDiscuz rely heavily on JavaScript files that utilize query strings (
?ver=x.x.x) to handle dynamic AJAX tasks, user sessions, and security tokens. When “Remove Query Strings from Static Resources” is turned ON, SiteGround strips those version parameters off the
.jsfiles. This causes browsers or intermediary proxies to aggressively cache those scripts. Because the script URL no longer changes when the plugin updates or when a fresh token is requested, the browser ends up serving an outdated script file that fails to generate or transmit the correct wpDiscuz nonce, resulting in the “Nonce is invalid” rejection.
So um, yeah. I have that setting OFF now, so leave lots of comments. I love comments.
