In America we drive on the right side of the road, and pedestrians tend to walk on the right side of the sidewalk. What about in other countries where they drive on the left side of the road. Do they walk on the left side of the sidewalk as well?
Which side of the sidewalk?

lemme tell ya. I was in London in March. It’s obvious that they drive on the right side of the road. But we could never get a handle on which side of the street to walk on. My wife and I are very conscious about that kind of stuff. We figured that since London is such an international town, especially in the touristy areas, that there’s no socially established side of the sidewalk to walk on. one of my co-workers used to live in london and he told me that londoners don’t have a specific side to walk on like we do here in the good ol’ U, S, of A.
whoops. i said londoners drive on the right side of the road. i meant the left. I’m a left-handed person who was thinking that london is the opposite of the correct way, but since i’m left-handed i always thing the opposite way is the correct way so actually i did a switch-switch-a-roo.
In NYC, people walk all over the place. It’s like a freaking stampede. I hate it!
When I was in Australia, they definitely walk on the left side of the sidewalk and in shopping malls too. When I came back to the U.S., I was so used to walking on the left side of everything and everybody – I got weird looks because I always seemed to be in the way!
