Idaho state quarter. Quick–what do you think?
Potatoes, right? I’d LOVE to see a potato on a United States quarter. It would be the coolest state quarter ever. Everybody loves the wheat penny. But a spudquarter would be even better!
But no. Idaho decides to be “different” and they didn’t put a spud on the quarter. Idaho, you suck.
If I could, I would make my own handmade Idaho potato quarters.

The Peregrine Falcon is featured on Idaho’s state quarter: The Peregrine Falcon is one of the fastest birds in the world. Once on the endangered species list, it can now be found throughout Idaho and the United States because of conservation efforts. Sorry, Matt, but the potato didn’t even make it to the final three designs for the Idaho state quarter: The Department of the Treasury approved the design on June 26, 2006. Two other designs were considered, including “Farmland Tapestry,” showing the farmland of Idaho with its majestic timber-covered mountains rising above, and “State Song,” featuring the outline of the State and lyrics. full story at usmint.gov http://www.usmint.gov/mint_programs/50sq_program/states/index.cfm?flash=yes&state=ID
It looks like the falcon is going to get its throat stabbed by the state of Idaho. Perhaps this represents the fact that the Peregrine Falcon was once on the endangered species list.
This design gets low marks from me because of the total lack of originality, namely the inclusion of the outline of the state itself. BOR-ING! Also, if the Peregrine Falcon is now abundant and can be found throughout the U.S. what’s the point of having it on the Idaho state quarter!? I hereby dub this state quarter one of the lamest yet.
The Latin phrase says “Let it be perpetual”. Let WHAT be perpetual? Bad design of the U.S. state quarters? +YAWN+
I like to imagine that the falcon ate a potato. I would like to see the proposed state quarter with the lyrics on it. That would be crazy.
What does Esto perpetua(in idaho’s quarter) mean?
