We all often sit like robots on the bus. I’m a reading robot. Being a robot can be good sometimes, because we respect each other’s quiet and space. But we don’t have to be totally robotic.
This past Wednesday night I was in a good mood after a very good small group Bible study. The 81 bus was tooting along Lawrence Avenue. My seat in the back of the bus had a nice big window that was all fogged up. I kinda looked around at the people on the bus and shrugged to myself, “I’ll draw on the window.” A nice happy snowman appeared on the window. Then a pile of snowballs, a Christmas tree, some presents. Then there was the top window. A moon, stars and clouds. Not a great masterpiece, but it was something fun.
Some dude sat in the seat facing me and my creation. He was just staring at the window. Studying it. lol.
I’d like to do something really cool next time. Not that coolness is the point of this. But still, it would really rock to do something along the lines of the mailbox snowmen. What would be good for a bus window?
You could do portraits of the people sitting around you… then they’d REALLY think you were crazy ๐
I can’t believe there are only a few results on flickr for fog window drawing. Google has only three results for it in quotes, “foggy window drawings.” There is a flickr group called “Drawn Windows, but it’s about drawings of windows. Not drawings ON windows. I just made a group on flickr called “Drawings on Windows. ๐
Are you sure it’s a good idea to draw a pile of snowballs behind a snowman? Just saying.. ๐
lol. At least the snowballs weren’t brown.
Whoa Sarah! You snuck in that comment before I did the one about the flickr groups! Wow. You are like a commenting ninja! Impressive. ๐ Portraits of the people on the bus! I love it! Actually, there was this kid who looked like he was in college and he was on the bus with a sketchpad drawing people. Only he wasn’t sly about it. He was very out there. Sketchpad was plain out to see and he would constantly look up and down a someone in particular and draw this person. Which I guess is cool and all. Drawing on the bus. I dunno, it was also kinda weird. Can you imagine drawing that on the window?! It would be funny if a person could get all upset and walk over and just smear the window, because it’s public property. I’d like to see a YouTube video of that. Or maybe in a movie. Oh that reminds me of this one YouTube video. I need to find it in my favorites… einen moment, bitte. OH i can’t find it. It’s this guy with a muppet on his hand running after people in the park asking them why they are running. It’s hilarious. Trust me. Back to window drawings, i kinda like these: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jammcat/2102489329/ Drawings of people waving. Like they are riding the bus.
Someone on facebook found the video for me! http://www.metacafe.com/watch/642096/puppet_running/
how about drawing advertisements for your favorite websites? I’m sure the folks at artis3letters.com would love such free advertising.
I wish my work didn’t block flickr! I can read this post at work, but if there are flickr pix, I can’t see them ๐ Whenever I find myself at a restaurant that has paper tablecloths I immediately start looking for the crayons so I can write tomsaaristo.com all over the place. I’m rarely on a bus anymore, but next time I encounter a foggy window I’ll try my hand at writing my url backwards so the pedestrians and drivers can see my ad ๐
VivaSpyGirl has a GREAT idea of drawing on frozen-food doors! http://twitter.com/VivaSpyGirl/status/3127904309
Wow! It is a great honor to be mentioned here. It’s great to have this recognition after spending years struggling and sneaking in frozen food stores throughout Chicagoland. This is for the grocery store staff who have to clean the frozen food glass doors with my finger “prints” and provide me with a blank canvas the next time I visit. … Without you I’m nothing! Oh, there’s no award? ๐ OK, this is why twitter is probably better for me. 140 character limit stops my rambling! Thanks! you can delete this!
